If you thought about parenting but felt it would be too difficult, you may wish to reconsider. Many services are available in our community and through Black Hills Pregnancy Center to help you parent successfully. Parenting is as rewarding as it is challenging. Before you decide this option isn’t for you, learn more about the available resources.

Is Parenting Right for Me?

No one is ever fully prepared to parent, and sadly, children don’t come with manuals. Every parenting situation is as unique as every child, but there are questions you should consider. Ask yourself the following to see what resources you currently have available and what you might need.

  • Will my parents or partner support me if I choose to parent?
  • Can I finish school or continue working if I am a parent?
  • Where will I live?
  • How can I get medical insurance?
  • Am I too young or too old to parent?
  • Do I have the financial and emotional resources to parent?

Like all of your options, only you know what is best for you now and in the future.
